I Live In Kentucky And Want To Leave! Tennessee Is Really Nice. Should I Move There, And If So, Where?
Should I do Memphis (my personal favorite city in TN,) Nashville, Knoxville, Chattanooga, Clarksville, Tri-Cities, or one of the more rural areas? I love Tennessee, it is much friendlier than Kentucky; it also has a higher quality of life, a lower cost of living, lower taxes, and a warmer climate.

I would say it all depends on the type of career you have or whether you will work at anything. Nashville has a lot to offer they are asking for help all over and I live in a small part called Antioch, Tn. There is Dell computer not far from here about 5 miles and there are all kinds of warehouse’s stores and fast food places. They are building all kinds of new sub divisions all over Nashville and the surrounding towns.I think it is a great place to live, I am a transplant of 35 years ago from Louisville behind the old fair grounds off Phillips Lane before the Airport bought everything out.

If you want to move, why don’t go somewhere along the coast? Much milder temperature year-round (at least more accurate weather forcasts there). Places where you can see the ocean are so cool!

There are really no wrong choices when it comes to choosing a great place in Tennessee -it’s all good. However, I prefer east Tennessee and the more rural areas. Loudon and Roane are two beautiful counties you might want to consider or if you want to be near the Smokies there’s always Sevier County, but you have to deal with all the tourons that come to town and cause all kinds of traffic problems.

It sounds like you have done some research already. I’d say the most important factor is whether or not you can get a good job when you move there. Start checking out the on-line job bank and see what you can find before you commit to the move.

Move to Tennessee! Kentucky sucks! I’ve met few people who didn’t move to TN and love it. KY is not southern, but redneck, and there IS a difference; many KY people are meaner than New Yorkers. Move to Tennessee!!!

I just moved to TN from the New England area, and I LOVE it. I live just north of Memphis, but commute everyday and it is so pleasant. If you’re considering moving, Memphis would definitely be my first choice. Research property values and neighborhoods before you just move down here to get an idea of the cost of living and the kind of job you would need to make ends meet financially. Drop me an e-mail and I will be happy to help you get started with some resources I used (web links)

Nashville has more going on than anywhere in the country, if on a smaller scale. Every possible type of cultural activity, music, art, sailing, whatever, is right there. The job market includes the widest variety, from manufacturing to insurance to hospitality and one of the largest publishing indutries; automobiles. Best city in the country, if you want to live in a city. Best suburbs if you want to live in the ‘burbs. And, if you’re into politics, it’s the Capital of Tennessee.
It’s got 17 colleges and universities.
I love Nashville, you will too.
